One more match and another edition of the Miami Open, one of the most important tournaments of the WTA circuit, will be under wraps. Here is our WTA Miami Open Final Odds & Betting Preview.
2023 WTA Miami Open Final Betting Preview
This is the third Masters 1000 tournament of the women’s season, after the Dubai Tennis Championships and Indian Wells Masters, and along with the latter, which is played in California just days before, they are called the “Sunshine Double”.
The Miami Open is played strictly on outdoor hard courts at the Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami, Florida.
The reigning champion in singles is Polish Iga Świątek, who withdrew beforehand because of a rib injury and the monarchs in doubles are German Laura Siegemund and Russian Vera Zvonareva, who got beaten in the early stages.
In-form Elena Rybakyna reaches the final and is the clear favorite to get the ‘sunshine double’
Elena Rybakina is the most refreshing surprise of the 2023 season within the WTA.
She already had given a massive hit about her talent and potential when she won Wimbledon last year, but at that time the result was isolated among frustrating early exits in several tournaments. Nevertheless, now she is storming through everybody.
The Kazakh’s recent performances are filled with high-IQ tennis, good movement through the court and grit. Now she wants to win every time she plays. And she is doing it for the most part.
In the semifinals of the Miami Open, she just beat Jessica Pegula (#3 seed and #3 in the world) in two sets, by 7-6, 6-4, in a match that never seemed out of her control.
With this new victory, she has won 18 of her last 20 matches and one of those defeats was in the final of the Australian Open.
She just raised the Indian Wells trophy and is on the verge of becoming the fifth woman to win the ‘Sunshine Double’, if she can win one more match in Florida.
However, that next encounter will be against Petra Kvitová, who as the more mature player, should have at least experience on her side.
The 33-year-old Czech has been in 12 Masters 1000 finals before and won eight. At the top of her game, she was #2 in the world in 2011.
Nevertheless, there is nobody who can deny her best years are behind her. For instance, the last Masters 1000 tournament in which she reached the final match was the 2018 Madrid Open.
That does not mean she can’t play and fight. Her lecture on the game is still on point and her calmness in the most emotional moments of a match could get into Rybakina’s head for the worse.
Besides that, during her last few matches, she has shown some dose of the fountain of youth, with winner shots and a physical display from another decade, just like what happened against Sorana Cîrstea (7-5, 6-4).
In doubles, Coco Gauff and Pegula (#2) are the favorites to win the title.
2023 Miami Open Final WTA Predictions
The winner of the 2023 Miami Open will be Elena Rybakina in two sets.
The Kazakh will be only the fifth female player in the history of the sport to win the “Sunshine Double”, which means the Indian Wells and the Miami Open Masters 1000 tournaments.
This will make her do another leap in the WTA rankings, where she is already #7 on the planet.
